Yakup and Şemsa, their three children and their grandchildren are an Assyrian family who immigrated from Mardin to Berlin 25 years ago. One day a phone call about their son Michael whom they have lost twenty-five years ago reminds them all their painful memories. Yakup, Şemsa and their granddaughter Nardin, who didn't want to leave her grandparents alone, decide to go to Mardin. This trip also starts their personal journey in life.

Director NİHAT DURAK
Nihat Durak began his professional career in cinema as assistant to acclaimed directors Ziya Öztan and Tomris Giritlioğlu. His first film as a director was "Yaban", a TV film, in 1996. Since then he directed many successful TV series, while also writing and directing feature films. He won Best Director and Yılmaz Güney Special Jury Prize in 2007 with his feature film, "İlk Aşk" (First Love). The Door is director’s most recent feature film.
