JÜLİDE YALÇIN, violin
Concertmeister, Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra
Jülide Yalçın began her studies on violin in 1981 with Prof. Murat Tamer at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory. She continued her studies in Lyon on a state scholarship, with Jean Estournet and Veronica Riou, where she became the winner of the violin competition. She graduated with an honors degree from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory higher level program, one year early by virtue of her achievement. She received her graduate degree in 1992 from Bilkent University where she studied with State Artist Prof. Suna Kan. From 1992 to 1996 she studied with Eric Rosenblith at the New England Conservatory of Music and Longy School of Music, and she was qualified for receiving a graduate and Artist Diploma.
During four years she studied in Boston, Jülide Yalçın gave solo concerts in Carnegie Hall and Jordan Hall, at the Yellow Barn Music Festival and Tanglewood Music Festival, the 1st International Composers and Performers Festival as well as with the Orchestra@Modern and the Boston Chamber Orchestra. She won first prize in the violin/piano duo category in the Shoreline Alliance Chamber Music Competition.
Yalçın toured with the Hitit String Quartet in 39 countries, and performed as soloist with the Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra and Istanbul, İzmir, Çukurova, Bursa, Antalya, Eskişehir and Brampton (Canada) Symphony Orchestras. She continues to perform in recitals, solo and chamber music concerts within Turkey and abroad.
She is the Concertmeister of the Ankara Presidential Symphony Orchestra and currently is Associate Professor in Başkent University and teaches in the State Conservatory Graduate program.
ELİF ÖNAL, piano
Elif Önal obtained her Master's degree in piano with Prof. Tuvana Alton at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. In 2005 she completed her doctoral degree, proficiency in arts, with Prof. Namık Sultanov and Gülnara Aziz in the Institute of Music and Performing Arts at Bilkent University.
Önal attended various master classes of Roland Batik in Vienna, Christopf Lieske in Salzburg Mozarteum Academy, and Frank Braley, Leontina Margulis, Gülsin Onay and Hüseyin Sermet in Istanbul.
In 1999 Önal won the "Best Interpreter of Turkish Works" in a piano competition, which was organized by ANAÇEV. In 2011 she received the award “Classical Music Ensemble of the Year” with Chamber Music Ensemble Bilkent Su Trio. In 2016 she performed the world premiere of Adnan Saygun’s “Suite for Piano Solo Op.2”. Önal currently teaches at the Piano Department in Ankara University State Conservatory. |
