Selim Sesler was born in a village located in Edirne, Turkey. After the population exchanges of 1923, the Seslers family had moved from Greece to Edirne where Selim began to learn and play music: the horn, and diverse Turkish Classical instruments. It is only much later on that he played the clarinet. In 1998 Sesler went on tour in Canada with Brenna MacCrimmon, which gave him the opportunity to represent his Turkish Roman and “Rumeli” roots, and develop his own repertoire of wedding songs.
Selim Sesler has also appeared in Fatih Akın's internationally award-winning films "Head On/Duvara Karşı" and "Crossing the Bridge/Köprüyü Geçerken".
Selim Sesler has played at important festivals in countries such as Germany, France, Sweden, and the U.S.
